This Memorial Day weekend I was getting my backyard ready for summer and opened up an umbrella that had been closed all winter, and I found a big surprise…a wasp’s nest! Yikes.
I must admit, as far as nature-type things go, it does look pretty amazing. Those little wasps must have worked really hard on it. And part of me thinks I really wouldn’t mind keeping it there for a little while, because it’s like a science project for my 12 year old; but something tells me that if I ignore it, I might, no…I definitely will regret it.
It is a little bit like that tiny nagging pain in my neck that cropped up a few days ago, which incidentally really doesn’t bother me too much right now. But I know from experience that the seemingly harmless little pain I have now will most likely get bigger and stronger and harder to deal with over time. And If I ignore it for a couple of weeks, it could very well turn into a really serious problem.
Very similar to that pain in my neck, the tiny new neighbors that have moved in to my umbrella will also get bigger and stronger and harder to deal with the more I ignore them and leave them to their own devices unchecked. In fact, if I don’t eliminate the problem very soon, I could have a situation that will no doubt get in the way of some serious summer fun later. Just like a subluxation!
So if you know any natural, non-toxic treatments for getting rid of wasp’s nests, I would love to get your suggestions below in the comments section. And yes, I will go see my Chiropractor for the natural, non-toxic treatment for my neck pain as well!
A few weeks before I found the wasp’s nest, I was in San Jose with my friend JJ Virgin, attending Brendon Burchard’s 4 day, high energy Experts Academy. Brendon is amazing and a great marketer with new and exciting ways to attract clients to you, based on all new research in human psychology. I was also privileged to do some mastermind power lunches with top Integrative Doctors like Hyla Cass, Jen Landa, Prudence Hall, Alan Christianson and nutrition and fitness experts like Johnny Bowden, and of course, JJ Virgin. It was a truly amazing weekend!
After spending the weekend with these medical experts from around the country, I got to reflect on how lucky I have been to be involved with Chiropractic. It is clear that the growing trend in traditional Western Medicine is Lifestyle Medicine, focused on naturally and non-invasively healing the body by supporting and activating the body’s own healing ability. Hmmmm, Sound familiar? Chiropractors are truly in an amazing position right now.
What do Chiropractors do?
Chiropractors are Pioneers in the field of Lifestyle Medicine. Most people just don’t realize it…yet. And if we are not out there teaching them every opportunity we get, how will they ever know? Case in point. I recently had an acquaintance (who knows I manage a Chiropractic office, as well as consult with other types of doctors in the area) ask me for a referral to a good medical doctor.
I asked her what was wrong with her, and she said “Oh, nothing’s wrong, I just want to stay healthy”. Luckily I did not say out loud what my immediate response was, which was “That’s the last place you want to go if you want to stay healthy!”, but I managed to pause, take a breath and then I realized that it wasn’t her fault.
Chiropractors in general have not done a stellar job of letting people know what they really do! The sad thing was, she had a regular chiropractor, who she loved. It just never occurred to her that he could help her stay healthy. What an eye-opener for me!
I told her if you want to be healthy, then you need to see a Chiropractor!
Chiropractors don’t look for what’s wrong with you, they look for what’s right with you, and enhance that. She was thrilled to realize that her friendly chiropractor who she knew and trusted could be the one to help her stay well.
I challenge you to go out this week and teach people in your community the amazing natural healing benefits of Chiropractic. It should not be a secret! Make sure you are talking to your patients about chiropractic principles of health and healing.
Your patients will be thrilled that you can provide the natural health care they have been searching for!
